Other Online JournalsJournal of Experimental Music Studies (JEMS) is a free online, peer-reviewed journal of British and American experimental music as it exists worldwide and of topics of related interest. JEMS is a rolling journal, in that it publishes articles as they are prepared rather than seasonal issues. The editors of JEMS will consider submissions of articles, interviews, and other documents relating to British and American experimental music, systems and minimalism, “new” tonality, and free improvisation (such as AMM or MEV). JEMS is a publication of the Experimental Music Catalogue. Discourses in Music is an online music journal, written and edited by graduate students. Its purpose is to develop and maintain a dialogue on musical and aesthetic matters among graduate music students. It is a tri-annual journal featuring discussions, information, and news concerning the work of graduate and recently-graduated musical scholars. Each issue features articles written by graduate students; the following issue features a formal discussion of the article from designated critics. We also encourage and print opinions from subscribers in the hopes of eliciting an on-going dialogue on musical topics. Chapter & Verse: A Journal of Popular Music and Literature Studies is a new Web journal that explores the creative intersection between popular music and the written word—novels and short stories, plays and poetry, journalism and criticism. The site carries essays, articles, and reviews that cover that inter-cultural territory where rock stars publish short stories; novelists tap in to the energy of jazz, soul, and hip-hop; poets forge alliances with hippies, b-boys, and rastas; sci-fi visionaries influence prog rock and cyber punk; and Gothic voices inspire nu metal; and music critics and columnists eulogize and crucify. The Journal of Seventeenth-Century Music (JSCM) is published by the Society for Seventeenth-Century Music to provide a refereed forum for scholarly studies of the musical cultures of the seventeenth century. These include historical and archival studies, performance practice, music theory, aesthetics, dance, and theater. JSCM also publishes critical reviews and summary listings of recently published books, scores, recordings, and electronic media.
